Meet Eric Hensel, our Fusion Stone representative in Ontario
mars 26, 2015
We believe that a successful company is every bit as much about its people as it is about its products or services. We thought it would be interesting and perhaps enlightening to give you a glance into the life of one of our many highly valued staff members.
Eric Hensel

Where were you born and where did you grow up?
Kitchener-Waterloo, ON 1 year; Drayton, ON, 14 years; Thornbury/Meaford, ON, 14 years.
What are your pastimes?
Hockey, Music, Baseball, Football, Fantasy Sports and at one time an avid Spelling Bee participant.
What is your job? What are you tasked to achieve?
I manage our extensive dealer network in Ontario through several channels. In addition, I ensure that any technical support in the field is taken care of promptly. My goal is to continue the growth and development of Fusion Stone to always be the best stone product in the market.
What is most satisfying about the job?
The most satisfying part of the job is seeing projects all the way through the process. From the beginning phases of what is Fusion Stone all the way to the moment we go on site and see the finished project.
What is most challenging about the job?
Trying to overcome the natural apprehension people get with a non-traditional masonry product. When we have a mason use the stone and enjoy the process it is the highest compliment.
What is your favourite restaurant and why?
I have to say my favourite restaurant is The Leaky Canoe in my hometown of Meaford. It’s a good thing when the server knows what you’re going to order, both food and beverage, as you sit down.
Where is the favourite place you have traveled to?
Up until a couple of weeks ago my favourite place to travel to was Québec City. However, now that I have been west to Calgary I am certain that I need to go back as soon as possible.
What are your favourite sports team?
NHL: Maple *coughs* Leafs
MLB: Blue Jays
NBA: Raptors
NFL: San Diego Chargers BOLT NATION!
EPL: Liverpool
I am a sucker for punishment with every team I cheer for.
What is your Tim Hortons staple order?
Large Dark Roast Regular
What are 5 things you can’t live without?
- Family
- Sportsnet/TSN
- iPad
- iPod – Music collection on my 250 GB Classic
- Pizza
What is your favourite music genre and artist?
I do not discriminate against much music. Rock to Alternative to Folk to Punk and everything in between.
Why did you pick Fusion Stone as a career?
I have always dabbled in the masonry industry. When I was a child I would trade stone from my own laneway for penny candy at the corner store.
The next step in my masonry career was working as a general labourer for my cousin who was a mason. I mixed mortar and slugged brick up the scaffolding for several summers. I was lucky enough to be selected by Fusion Stone and must say I am now « Hooked For Life. »
What is a key highlight of working with Fusion Stone?
My key highlights working for Fusion Stone have been seeing the evolution of the brand in just three years since I started. The scope and scale of the projects grow every year and it is always awesome to see where Fusion Stone will get installed next.
If you could spend one day with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
If I could spend one day with anyone in the world besides some members of my family it would be with Jimmy Fallon. I think of him as an all round talent so it would make for a great 24 hours.
What is your favourite Fusion Stone product and colour? Why?
My favourite Fusion Stone product and colour is Great Lakes Carbon. I love the rich, dark tones Carbon has and, with those attributes, it will be going on my own home in the near future.
Eric is a great asset to the Fusion Stone team and, as you have just seen, it has a lot to do with who he is not just with what he does.
