Think the Burj Khalifa Tower is Impressive?

Check out LEGOLAND® Dubai’s Scale Replica

Towering 2,716 feet above the desert, the Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai, UAE is the world’s tallest building. It stands about 700 feet taller that the second tallest building in the world, the Shanghai Tower (2,073 feet); almost 1,000 feet taller than the tallest building in the western hemisphere, the One World Trade Center (1,776 feet); and more than 1,200 feet taller than our own CN Tower (1,500 feet).

Unlike the CN Tower, the Burj Khalifa qualifies officially as a ‘building’ rather than just a ‘structure’ (a structure means that most of its floors are uninhabitable). It is not only the world’s tallest building, but the tallest man-made structure that has ever existed anywhere in the world!

Seeing the Burj Khalifa for yourself is a one-of-a-kind experience, but it can be nerve wracking – especially if you are afraid of heights. Fortunately, for those who would rather keep their feet planted firmly on the ground, there is now another unique way to experience the world’s tallest structure.

LEGOLAND® Dubai has built a scale replica of the building measuring 56 feet tall, weighing over 1,000 pounds, and constructed out of 439,000 LEGO® bricks. All totalled, the construction took about 5,000 man hours.

Unlike the building that it replicates, the LEGO® Burj Khalifa is not an all-time record breaker. In 2015, LEGO® Italia, located in Milan, built a structure more than double the height of the LEGO® Burj Khalifa. The Italian structure stood a staggering 114 feet, 11 inches tall, and contained over half a million LEGO® bricks. The Italian structure was not a replica of an existing building, rather, it was designed to be a record breaker. The LEGO® Italia tower was deconstructed immediately after it claimed the record.

The LEGO® Burj Khalifa may not be the tallest LEGO® structure of all time, but it is the tallest currently standing. It is the crown jewel of a full LEGO® replica of Dubai, complete with the downtown, marina, and DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre).

LEGOLAND® Dubai

Visitors to LEGOLAND® Dubai can also visit six notable “lands” with LEGO® replicas of famous buildings, historical sites, and more. In total the models contain around 60 million bricks. The “kingdom” zone contains knights, squires, dragons, and everything else you would expect to find in the Middle Ages, and some things you wouldn’t —like a dragon rollercoaster.

In the “city” zone children can fly planes at the mini airport, captain boats, or even earn a LEGO® driver’s licence (not valid to drive actual vehicles).

Your own LEGO® Burj Khalifa

Don’t fret if you can’t make it out to Dubai. LEGO® sells Burj Khalifa models that you can build in your own home – but they are quite a bit smaller than the version on display at LEGOLAND®. With the aid of a DIY kit, DIY’ers and the young at heart will love spending time constructing their own Burj Khalifa.

Like LEGO®, Fusion Stone kits make construction projects easy and fun. If you love to DIY, then why not spend your time adding a stone veneer accent wall, upgrading the facing of your fireplace, or improving your home’s exterior? Just like LEGO®, Fusion Stone’s technology will make your next construction project simple, easy and fun. However, unlike the LEGO® model, your creation will stand the test of time.
