Our feature project this month demonstrates just what can be done when the ultimate deck is the goal. This one has everything from a hot tub to dining and entertainment areas and a fabulous outdoor kitchen, all executed with great taste, ultra-modern design and Fusion Stone.

This project was executed by Blue Ridge Builders, Inc. of Halifax, NS (@blue_ridge_halifax).

The centre piece is perhaps the kitchen. It sets the scene for the entire design with the contrast of Fusion Stone Great Lakes with raw pine wall and ceiling panels. These provide the environment and surround for what is clearly a highly contemporary and functional food preparation and cooking environment.

These two materials, working in harmony, is another excellent example of how well traditional wood and stone construction products accommodate a sleek design.

There are perhaps two key design features to make note of. The first is the obvious and effective contrast in colour and texture between the Fawn colour of the Fusion Stone and the lightly stained pine panels. The second is the complementary nature of the Great Lakes Fawn stone and the stainless-steel appliances. Everything works brilliantly together.

A final outstanding effort at design coordination is the intelligent use of Fusion Stone Great Lakes Fawn for skirting on the adjacent building. Although other building products have been used here that are not found on the deck buildings, the use of Fusion Stone permits a seamless transition from the deck environment to that of the nearby structure.
